“Why does company-wide AI adoption deliver more?”

Company-wide AI adoption delivers more because the gains arise between teams, departments and locations, not with individual users. Most companies buy a tool and run a training session, after which everyone uses AI on their own little island. As a result, a gain of 20 to 30 per cent is left on the table.

Transcript: Why does company-wide AI adoption deliver more?

Even een stapje terug.

How do you use AI as a lever for collaboration?

Results at work come from three levers: working hard, working smart and working together. AI is usually seen only as a working-smart lever, a personal productivity tool. The biggest lever is working together, between people and with AI, across departments and locations. The difference in AI results between companies is therefore not down to the tool, but to how widely it is used.

Why doesn't a tool plus training work?

A licence for Copilot, ChatGPT or Claude with training on top leads to individual use. Each employee optimises their own tasks, but the processes between teams stay the same.

Where is the real AI gain?

The gain lies at the handover points: between teams, between departments and between locations. In practice, that is where 20 to 30 per cent extra return is found.

What are you leaving on the table now?

Do the maths: 25 per cent more revenue at no extra cost. That is what a business misses out on as long as AI use stays on separate islands.

Why does one company get far more results from AI than another? It's not down to AI.

Frequently asked questions on this topic

What are the three ways to get results from work?

Results come from working hard, working smart and working together. Almost everyone already works hard. For working smart, most organisations are now looking at AI. Working together is the biggest lever and the one most often forgotten: collaboration between people and, these days, with AI too, organisation-wide across teams, departments and locations.

What is the risk of AI use on islands?

When each employee uses AI for themselves, separate ways of working emerge without a shared approach. Individual tasks get faster, but collaboration between teams and departments does not change. As a result, most of the potential gain goes unused, because it is precisely the handovers and coordination between departments and locations that offer the greatest return.

Does the choice of AI tool determine the result?

No. Whether an organisation chooses Copilot, ChatGPT or Claude barely affects the result. The difference between companies that get a lot out of AI and those that get little lies in how they use it. Organisations that embed AI company-wide in the collaboration between teams consistently get more return than organisations that only roll out a tool and training.
